SOMETHING ABOUT US

I am Jenni Leino, living in Mustasaari (Western Finland) and breeding Border Collies by the prefix Eyewitness. I am originally from Turku (South-West Finland), but have been living on the West Coast of Finland with my soulmate Marko since 2007. I have bred five BC-litters so far.

My first dog, Border Collie Sinna, came to change my life in 1995. Ever since then Border Collies have been a major part of my life. I had never had pets before apart from a couple of fish in an aquarium and was actually afraid of dogs. Sinna made me see things in a new way.

Sinna's breeder Kaisa Honkonen told me about agility, and I was immediately drawn to the exciting looking sport. Sinna and I also got to know many other sports: obedience, search&rescue, flyball and water rescue. When I started with agility I was determined never to enter to a competition. My determination did not last very long since Sinna and I competed for the first time as soon as Sinna reached the proper age, on June 30th 1996. In December the same year we entered the Finnish Championships in agility.

My second BC Spooky arrived in 1997, and in 2000 I went to pick up a puppy called Space from Great Britain. With Space I learned also about tracking and sheepwork. In 2002 I kept a puppy from the second Eyewitness litter, a bitch puppy called Konna. My next agility partner came from my friend Marie (GB) in 2007, the puppy was named Loox.

During the years I have achieved a lot with my dogs. The things that I am most proud of are the Agility Champion titles of Sinna, Space and Konna, the Obedience Champion titles of Sinna and Spooky and the district championship wins with Sinna and Konna. Space passed the herding test both in Finland and Germany, and received a tracking title from the only competition we ever entered. Loox and I started competing in agility in the end of February 2009, and in June she was qualified to compete in the Finnish Championships: not just with the seven required results but thirteen of them, having also already won three class 3 competitions, well on her way towards the champion title.

I have been giving lessons in agility, obedience and flyball, and been on the board of the Finnish BC and AK Club during 2001-2005.

Marko started agility with his first dog, a rough coated Collie Honey, in 1994. Later Marko has competed with an Australian Shepherd Lori and Belgian Shepherd Malinois Capri. Capri and Marko were a part of the Finnish team in the Nordic agility championships in Stockholm in 2005. Since 2007 Marko has been competing in agility with Space winning several competitions and being placed 5th in the Finnish Championships in 2008. Marko's current agility dog will be Hertz whom we kept from our S-litter that was born in 2008.

At the moment we have six Border Collies at home so dogs and dogsports are a huge part of our life. Most of our free time we spend hiking in the forests and practising agility, and our favourite thing to do on weekends is go to competitions and meet our friends.

We hope you'll enjoy your visit on our website!
